Jeweled Amethyst & Ruby Encrusted Statue Hilt Presentation Sword of Col. Thomas Stephens 2nd Wisconsin Cavalry

This is the Rarest Presentation Sword in my 14 years of Collecting That I have ever seen in person hands down! After 3 long years of negotiation & a whole lot of money I was able to acquire it! This is the finest sword that one could ever own! It is an amazing work of art! Col. Thomas Stephens would be the personal guard of Queen Victoria prior to the Civil War & it is documented that this very very expensive sword was gifted to him May 13, 1865 in Texas! Colonel Stephens led his men in numerous battles but his most famous was the Battle of Vicksburg! Where he led the 2nd Wisconsin Cavalry into battle & is on the monument~ Col. Stephens also wrote the manual on sword fighting which was adopted by the US ARMY to which I retain his personal presentation copy that is included. Col. Thomas Stephens is described as one of the best swordsman to have ever lived~ One thing is for sure this is absolutely the most detailed & intricate work of art I have ever been able to acquire~ There are only 3 known with one being housed in a museum... This one is published in John Thillman's Sword Book... Price is not negotiable...

$45,000

Sixth plate tintype identified as Captain William Edward Whitehurst of the 16th Virginia Infantry. Whitehurst would enlist in Company G. of the 16th Virginia, known as the "Atlantic Guard", along with several other family members in early March, 1862. In September of that year he would be hospitalized with a hernia but return to the ranks the next month. Whitehurst would serve as part of A.P. Hill's Third Corps in the Army of Northern Virginia. Of the 270 men that fought at Gettysburg the regiment lost 5% of their men. William would be promoted to 1st lieutenant on May 1, 1862 not long after enlisting. His promotion to captain would come around mid July, 1864. Just months later he was listed as a deserter on December 2, 1864. 20 days later he would resign his commission. This view shows William dressed in a double breasted frock. The cuffs are trimmed in light blur for infantry with gold braid on the sleeve to indicate his rank. Taken some time while serving as a 1st lieutenant he holds a small piece of paper in his hand which I'm almost certain is a CDV. This view was purchased directly from the family and was found tucked into the pages of a 1806 edition of the New Testament which originally belonged to Jacob Whitehurst. It is also published in the book titled "Princess Anne County, VA. It's Contributions and Sacrifices for the War Between the States" the book is included...
